BeAstro is registered Canadian non-profit (Cor # 1266780-1) operating in York Region. We specialize in training undergraduates who want to have careers in education, and connecting them to help support schoolteachers.  

No. We do not comment or create IEP's and are very mindful of students with them. Our volunteers are able to work alongside DSW's and EA's in the teachers class that they are volunteering with, helping with tasks inside and outside the classroom as per request. 

We are a grass-roots organization and have yet to make enough impact for the schoolboard(s) to notice us. While our goal is to partner with schoolboards across the Greater Toronto Area in the near future, we hope to deliver our services at such an exceptional level so that the word would spread about us to reach not only other teachers and schools, but also the appropriate channels in the schoolboard(s).

Of course! In fact it's one of our main areas of focus. Our Agents can meet you at your local coffee shop for lunch, either afterschool, sometimes even before school and on the weekends. Our Agents are also fully available remotely. 

We take privacy very seriously. At no point does BeAstro collect or sell any information. Further, our Agents keep everything confidential. Things that are between you, them, and the classroom stay that way. If an Agent needs help or advice, they reference make-up names to ensure privacy stays intact.  In case of any questions about our privacy policy, or break in privacy or confidentiality, we ask you to inform us right away. Our course modules consist of topics in Education, Philosophy of Mind, and Psychology. These are created and reviewed by Master's level students and our PhD colleagues. Agents undergo a 3-month training period, acquiring essential lessons to deliver services with professional consistency. Additionally, they earn a CPR-C certification through a licensed provider.

Agents are undergraduate students in College/University who hope to pursue careers either directly in education or in related fields such as Psychology and Philosophy. They completed our training, are trained in CPR-C, and have their Vulnerable Sectors.

Our Agents can help support teachers between Grades 1-12, depending on the Agent's specialty, interest, and training. 

We offer various services including classroom and leadership support, helping to create lesson plans with that extra touch that AI isn't able to provide, and much more. 

Agents gain life-long experience through our training, resume experience,  a unique way to stand out on OCT applications, and exposure to the life of being a teacher. 

Our volunteers are vetted, dedicated, trained, and competent adults who are ready to work with students in your classroom not during teacher lead activities (e.g., during tests or independent group work).  

This service is completely free.
